Summertime is a time of vacations and major laziness for many entrepreneurs. 🙂 It means sleeping in, doing things whenever, and running around without pants on. I’ve definitely been feeling the summer weather the last few months, but recently I decided to buckle down and get some serious work done and growth happening in my businesses.
So, what did I do to suddenly get motivated? Well, here are some inspirational blog posts that will kick you in the butt! They are great posts to read when you feel unmotivated in your business. After reading something motivational, make sure you write down some concrete action steps you can take to move forward with your goals. Feeling inspired is great, but you have to actually do something with all your new-found motivation. 🙂 Good luck!

As an entrepreneur, blogger, or creative, sometimes it’s hard to maintain a consistent flow of creativity so you can continue producing new work. If you have no creative inspiration right now, try this out-of-the-box technique for getting the creative juices flowing again.
What to Do When You Have No Creative Inspiration
Here’s what I’ve been doing lately to get new ideas.
Here’s the thing: as a creative, you can’t create non-stop for 18 hours a day. I mean, maybe you physically could, but you’d get really burned out and you’d run out of ideas super quickly.
It’s like what they say about being a writer. Part of your job is spending time just living, otherwise you don’t have anything to write about. If you sit in a dark room for 12 hours a day writing, it’s probably not going to be as “inspired” and free-flowing as if you went out and lived your life and had experiences to draw from and talk about.
How are you supposed to write pretty poems about nature unless you’ve actually seen it for yourself firsthand? 🙂
That’s what it’s like for entrepreneurs.
If you’re having trouble coming up with ideas for new blog posts, products, a design for a client, social media posts, or something else in the realm of creativity, try spending some time in a completely different area.
For me, I’ve been diving WAY deep into the world of makeup lately. Totally random, but makeup is also a very creative and artistic pursuit, and I’ve come up with loads of new ideas and inspiration from spending so much time researching something that’s really different than what I usually do on a day-to-day basis.
I’ve spent an ungodly amount of time watching makeup videos on Youtube from “beauty gurus,” lurking on makeup-related forums online, going through my own collection and decluttering or otherwise adding to it, and more.
So, that’s nice, but what does that have to do with business?? Because by doing something that’s totally different than my daily routine, I can come up with completely new ideas.
If the blogs in your industry are all starting to feel similar, try looking OUTSIDE your industry for fresh inspiration.
For example, at the moment all things mermaid- and unicorn-looking are very popular in the beauty world. I could take that inspiration to create t-shirts or prints for one of my online stores. If I had only stuck to looking around in the “business” world, I probably wouldn’t have stumbled across something so random and yet still very trendy right now.
How can you dive into a totally different topic than what you do for a living? Try researching something new and interesting and see what kinds of inspiration for your business you can draw from it. 🙂
