In just a short time I grew the Instagram following of my mental health app Resilient to over 9,000 followers, and helped my dad grow his Instagram following to nearly 2,000 followers in a few weeks (Ok, ok, he gets most of the credit for being awesome. But I helped him set up his account using the techniques described below :)). Here’s how to grow your Instagram following.
Note: since writing this post, Instagram has disallowed automation tools such as Instagress. So unfortunately, you will now need to do most actions manually to grow your Instagram following.
How to Grow Your Instagram Following
After that, growing your followers will involve connecting and engaging with other people and their posts. Unless you’re Kim K, most likely you won’t amass a following of millions of raving fans while not following anyone yourself. 🙂 So search for people in your niche or a similar area and follow them! (Not too many, especially when your account is new, or you will look spammy to Instagram). Also like and comment on other people’s posts that are relevant to what you do.
I’d recommend by starting out following around 5 people a day and posting a few times a week when your account is new so you don’t trip up any spam filters, and once your account is a few months old, then you can follow around 50 people a day and post about once a day. At the moment, you are limited to following 7,500 people (but you can have more followers on your account than that).
Over time your account will start to grow more organically as well.
